Meet Eric Liddie! A 5:00am regular and the occasional 11:30am
Eric has been a Protocol member for almost 6 months but has been doing CrossFit for almost 6 years!
“I’ve always enjoyed staying active, going back to my days playing football as center and linebacker in high school. I’m just a regular guy who enjoys staying active, challenging myself, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Even after 6 years, I’m still learning and improving. I’m far from perfect, and still do both scaled and Rx workouts depending on the movements and my abilities. To me, it’s not about proving I’m the best athlete. It’s about challenging myself, making progress, and knowing when to push myself or modify a workout.
What I enjoy most about CrossFit is the community. CrossFit brings together people from different backgrounds, ages, sizes, abilities, and fitness levels. Everyone has something different to offer, and we support encourage, and learn from one another. It’s more than just working out. It’s about building friendships, sharing knowledge and experiences, and helping each other grow.
As a deaf athlete, I also want to show people that being deaf does not define my abilities or limit what I can accomplish. I may communicate differently, but I have the same determination, passion, and goals as everyone else. I believe that we can overcome barriers when people are willing to learn, adapt, and support one another.
I am thankful to God for giving me the strength and ability to stay active, challenge myself, and keep growing.
You don’t have to be the strongest, fastest, or most experienced person to start. Everyone starts somewhere. Coaches can modify workouts based on individual abilities, fitness levels, and certain health conditions when appropriate. They work with you to find what is safe and achievable for your situation.
CrossFit isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, learning, improving, and becoming stronger in everyday life. "
